Rev. Shannan Vance-Ocampo

Shannan was called to serve as the Pastor and Head-of-Staff at Watchung Avenue Presbyterian Church in March 2009. She began her service May 1, 2009.

Prior to her call to Watchung Avenue, Shannan served for eight years as the Associate Pastor at the Rumson Presbyterian Church (NJ). Shannan holds a B.A. in Religious Studies and Philosphy from the College of Wooster (Ohio); a Masters of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary and is working on a second advanced degree, a Masters in Public Policy. She is a Certified Christian Educator in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and a Fellow with Greenfaith. Her past service included chairing the Committee on Preparation for Ministry in Monmouth Presbytery as well as as leading the Cuba Mission Working Group in that Presbytery. As a member of Elizabeth Presbytery, Shannan serves on the Peacemaking as the Mission Study Teams.  In the national church Shannan serves on the National Committee of the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship where she is Director of Colombia Programs. Shannan comes to WAPC with extensive mission experience, having led mission trips both nationally and internationally. She has a passion for ministry within congregations and among the communities they reside in.

Shannan makes her home along the Raritan Bay with her husband Juan Gabriel Ocampo of Bogota, Colombia and their daughter.  In her spare time you can find Shannan on the beach or gardening.
